“Red Stars” («Красные Звезды»). Документальный сериал снимался в 1997-2000 годах студией «AVIAFILM”, созданной при Харьковском авиазаводе. Автор идеи и продюсер: выпускник ХАИ 1978 года Вячеслав Савин. Одной из главных заслуг Савина и гордостью «Авиафильма» остается по крупицам собранный им за долгие годы громадный киноархив по истории авиации. К сожалению, авиакатастрофа самолета Ан-140 (23 декабря 2002) в горах Ирана оборвала жизнь Вячеслава Савина. Харьков и Украина потеряли в его лице одного из ведущих историков авиации. В этой же авиакатастрофе погиб оператор-постановщик фильма Михаил Земляной.
Каждая серия фильма (из 24-х) продолжительностью 55 мин. построена на документальном рассказе о лучших образцах авиационной техники на фоне событий и фактов социально-политической жизни времени. В основу фильма положены материалы фото- и видеоархива студии, а также многочисленные документы (в том числе малоизвестные и ранее неопубликованные) из истории военно-воздушных сил бывшего СССР и стран СНГ. Фильм «Красные звезды» удостоен диплома конкурса региональных электронных средств массовой информации Украины «Золота хвиля».
